One of my very best friends (Lance) came with me and Shaun to Moab Utah for Easter Jeep Safari. We experience some of the very Best Utah has to offer when Brad from TrailRecon joined us on a trail called Behind the Reef. The next day Lance and I had a day to ourselves while Shaun was out driving Jeep Concept Cars..so we wanted to do a proper Rock Crawling Trail. We wound up driving this trail for about 9 hours (we went slow, filmed, and just enjoyed ourselves)..and it was one of my most favorite days on the trail ever. Period. I now get why folks love Rock Crawling and Rock Landing. I got to know my Jeep much better, and understand what it's capable of, and we had the entire trail to ourselves all day long..it was just awesome. I ALSO had a full on anxiety/panic attack while flying the drone. I misjudged the lookout ledge and when I flew my drone over the edge, I got vertigo and an anxiety attack..something that's never happened to me before. We then had to drive a ledge road that pitched into the cliff...and I was very glad when we turned away from the ledge. But hey, what's a day on the trail without a little drama?? The next day Moab forced me to face my fears. Fears of damaging my Jeep on harder trails, fears of heights on ledge roads, and a fears that an Overlander like myself has no place in the Rock Crawling community…but facing your fears makes you stronger right??? Well, I did a trail called Hells Revenge, and an obstacle called Hells Gate to that theory to the test.
