The 2017 Girls Giving Grants award of $6,800 grant supported the Canine Courtroom Accompaniment Program at the Center for Child Protection. This video introduces therapy dog Mickler, who comforts children who must testify in court for cases of abuse neglect. The Center for Child Protection reported these statistics related to the program supported by the g3 grant:

100% of accompaniment clients provided testimonies
92% of animal-assisted clients made progress toward their goals
60% of children who received animal-assisted therapy experienced a significant reduction in
trauma symptoms;
80% of those who received at least 1 year of therapy experienced a reduction in symptoms

The Center for Child Protection helps young victims of abuse tell their story and begin the healing process. They provide forensic, medical and therapy services to children during the investigation and intervention process and continuing education to the Austin community to help end the cycle of child abuse. https://centerforchildprotection.org/

Girls Giving Grants (g3) is the youth initiative of Impact Austin.
