My Dad ‪@WheelinMatt‬ rock Climbing Greese Gun Groove 5.6 at the Gunks in New York⁩. This is a 1 pitch climb in the Near Trapps area of the Shawangunk (Gunks) Mountains. These areas have different names depending on guide book or mountain project. Fun steep climb with some crack climbing down low and some fun, steep and commiting moves throughout. Crux at the bottom with a ankle breaker rock, so be careful on first moves. I'm 6'4 and was able to plug a .75 in the right flake high up so my dad didnt fall on the rock. The gunks is known to have very stiff ratings as many of these climbs are put up in the 40s and 50s. This climb was put up in 1958. The protection is quite good but dont hang around long as it is steep and only gets steeper as you go! The Rappel station is in a bit of an awkward spot so we found it easier to belay the partner up and then raprel instead of lowering and top roping. Anchors have nice thick stainless steel chains and rings.
