I've had a lot of trouble getting a workable build on this Shadow Cat. I want it to be a ballistic base, not energy or missile. Originally i used a Gauss build, then AC10, and finally in desperation tried out this 2xAC2 2xLMG. I didn't expect much from it but i'm pleasantly surprised.

I unintentionally kept the skills from the Gauss build, which has ~10% range. However, i really like that and will keep it. Having the Light Machine Gun range out at 430/650 or so is REALLY nice - i'm not actually going to do any damage with LMGs at max range, but the plink-plink-plink of the LMG is VERY distracting and makes enemies look for the Light mech harassing them. For example, look at the Awesome @4m20s - he backs up to protect his rear, torso twisting and searching all over for the Light mech that must be harassing him. Eventually he narrowed down which direction he was getting shot from, but he never actually saw me and his focus on the LMGs allowed my teammate to core him from behind. Very nice.


** BUILD HISTORY DISCUSSION **

Originally i went with Gauss Rifle and Machine Guns. However, a single Gauss Rifle does just really bad damage, and if i want ECM (which, duh, of course i do) then i can only have 3 MGs, and 3 MGs (regardless of type) is not good damage either, and requires a lot of face time, and Shadow Cats are not tanky mechs.

After multiple terrible matches with the Gauss (e.g. 100-250 damage), i switched to an AC10: it is similar damage as a Gauss Rifle but about twice the dps, so i should do great, right? Turns out, no! Similar results as the Gauss, now with the added downside of frequent brawling and fumble fingers!

I'd already tried 2xLBX5 on my Nova and done generally "meh to bad", and 2xAC5 doesn't really fit on a Shadow Cat anyway (not enough ammo, even with the ridiculous quirk), so i never took it outside testing grounds. Since 2xAC5 doesn't work due to lack of ammo, i can drop down to AC2 and put the tonnage into ammo, right? Surprisingly, this seems to have worked.

I chose AC2 instead of UAC2 or LBX2 on purpose. If i went with UAC2, i would want to utilize the UAC part, and this mech doesn't have enough UACs to keep fighting through a jam. LBX2 spreads too much at 1080m, and since i intend to snipe harass with this build, that makes LBX2 non-viable.
