Greetings, in this tutorial we shall be looking at how to make a custom shader in Unity work with a UI mask. When making shaders in Unity, unless you add in specific properties and some code to your shader, it won't work with UI masks.

The stencil properties (_Stencil, _StencilComp, _StencilOp, _StencilReadMask, _StencilWriteMask) allow the shader to integrate with Unity's stencil buffer, which is used by the UI masking system to control where elements can be drawn. The ColorMask property ensures all color and transparency channels are written correctly, preserving the appearance of masked elements. The Queue = Transparent tag ensures the shader is rendered in the correct order, allowing transparency and masking effects to work together properly.

Doing this will ensure your UI image will work with masks on your Unity canvas.
