Elvin Jones Lick

Week 15 of a series I'm calling "52 Licks." 1 new jazz phrase each week.

Here's an Elvin lick that I love and hear him use all the time. As always - short, simple and easily applicable. But so hip.

I spend half the video calling the 4 stroke version a 4 stroke ruff - which is of course a 3 stroke ruff, but a 4 stroke phrase. Moral? Do as I play, not as I say. Or something like that. I'll shut up now...
