Happy Halloween! Enjoy this evil song about Celestia's fiery alter-ego, Daybreaker, and what could have been had she risen to power.
Seriously, this is, like, the polar opposite of "Fizzlepop 'Til You Drop". Talk about genre whiplash!

About the title
In "The Cutie Re-Mark", Starlight Glimmer alters the past in various ways, which caused ripples through time and changed the future. Each time she did it, she caused another villain to take over. King Sombra, Queen Chrysalis, Nightmare Moon, and more, all got their time in the spotlight. The last future she creates is a bleak, barren, desolate hellscape. I believe in the fan theory that this future was the one caused by Daybreaker, who became so consumed with power that she burned all of Equestria, leaving nothing but dust and winds.

This song is inspired by that future. I wanted to evoke that same sense of bleak, crushing darkness. And what better inspiration for bleak darkness than the huge, droning guitar tones of Sunn O))). So, I drew heavily from their style, and made it my own.

How I created the guitar tone
I played my baritone guitar (humbuckers, both pickups) through a metal distortion pedal, rolling off a lot of the high-end. Then, I ran that through my EarthQuaker Devices Acapulco Gold, set to maximum. I ran that through my amp on a clean setting, also cleaning up the highs, which I then sent into my audio interface. I couldn't go directly from the pedals into the interface, because it would clip something fierce. I then quad-tracked the guitar part and panned them across the stereo field, to make them super huge. Last, I did some EQ cleanup, and applied a multi-band compressor to squash the low-end into a bass tone. Overall pretty happy with how it turned out, despite being pretty amateur.
