Kimberly Hermann is known as “Mama Bear, wife, Conservative lawyer and commentator” on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, what is now simply known as X. In a post some time ago she declared that “schools are turning our kids into soldiers for the progressive army.” In a new interview with Rebecca Weber, CEO of the Association of Mature American Citizens and host of AMAC’s Better For America podcast, Kimberly took aim at the “concept of gender ideology.”

Kimberly is Executive Director of the Southeastern Legal Foundation and she, along with AMAC, will be joining Moms for Liberty on August 31st in Washington, D.C., for the first March for Kids. The march aims to “raise awareness about the decline of our educational system and the erosion of parental rights in our country.”

Some 50 years ago Congress passed a law known as Title IX. It’s a plain and simple law, just about 37 words long. It states that, boys and girls have an equal opportunity when it comes to education. “A lot of people think of it as a sports law, but it really applies to all educational opportunities,” Kimberly explained. “Back in the 70s, there were a lot of girls that couldn’t go to graduate programs. And, for some odd years, we’ve had the same exact law and the Biden administration couldn’t change that law. Instead, they had the Department of Education change the definition of sex. So Title IX says you cannot discriminate on the basis of sex in education. And they changed what sex means. It no longer means a boy and a girl. It now means gender ideology. And so they have fundamentally changed what Title IX does. It no longer protects our girls. It no longer ensures that they have equal opportunity to graduate programs, to sports programs, to anything. It no longer means they can protect themselves in locker rooms. They no longer have their own locker rooms or bathrooms. Anyone can go into any space, depending on what gender ideology they are that day. It’s a very dangerous proposal.”

As Kimberly explained it, “they couldn’t change the law. Instead, they came in and changed the definition of sex. Title IX says you cannot discriminate on the basis of sex in education and so they went ahead and changed what sex means. It no longer means a boy and a girl; it now means the concept of gender ideology.”

They have fundamentally changed what Title IX does, she said. “It no longer protects our girls. They no longer have their own locker rooms or bathrooms. Anyone can go into any space, depending on what gender ideology they are that day. It’s a very dangerous proposal.”

Kimberly went on to compare it to the ideals of Communism, noting that she doesn’t “know what’s in these people’s hearts and what’s in their minds; all that we can really see is that this goes back to Marxist ideals ... it tears apart families.”

The March for Kids is “a collaboration of dozens of grassroots organizations from all corners of the country aimed at building awareness to the decline of our educational system and the erosion of parental rights in our country. We will unite parents of every faith, race and political party behind the future of America and our children.”
