Migrating high-visibility government sites with thousands of pages and hundreds of stakeholders is a challenge. For exceptionally complex sites that cannot be migrated in one go, we present an incremental migration approach that allows keeping both the legacy site and the new site active at the same time. Pages that have been migrated to the new site take precedence, while other pages are proxied to the legacy site. This reduces the timeline pressure on the development team, while also providing stakeholders with bite-sized increments to review.

This session will include both a high-level overview of the process, some technical details for implementing efficient HTTP proxy schemes with Drupal, and use of the Migrate API to support the process.
