Realities for Children is an organization that has been serving the children of Larimer County, Colorado, for over 25 years.

On top of their many fundraising programs and donation drives, their partner social service agencies were coming to them with specific requests for families in need. Things like kitchen supplies, toys and bedroom furniture.

On the other side, community members would reach out with items they could donate. But there was no easy way to connect the dots. In fact, an employee was spending a large amount of time on Facebook, phone calls and emails trying to get donations into the right hands.

They approached CodeGeek to design and create a tool to help them manage these requests.

We built a custom Laravel web application that allows the agencies to post requests directly for the items that families need.

WHAT THIS WEB APP CAN DO:
Anyone in the community can register as a donor and choose items to donate.

Once a match has been made, trained and background checked delivery teams are notified and complete the pickup and delivery.

The agencies and Realities for Children are able to pull reports about the donations made and the number of families served.

Interestingly, donors and delivery teams mainly interact with the application via email notifications, which are carefully crafted to guide these community members through each step in the process. Donors even receive a tax receipt via email after their donation has been completed.

WHO THIS WEB APP SERVES:
The result? The KindConnect web application has helped Realities for Children connect hundreds of children in need with donors in our community. In fact, it has been so successful that we are currently expanding the application to a neighboring county.
