UDP Party Leader Addressing Supporters after ‘insults’ by Expelled NAM

Militants of United Democratic Party formed crowds to ‘show solidarity’ with party leader on Monday, two days following critical comments by one of expelled National Assembly Members of the Party.

They criticized Fatoumatta Jawara of the Tallinding Constituency for ascribing the [UDP] leader as ‘ignorant’ and ‘drunkard’ allegedly for not stopping party supporters from ‘insulting’ her since she parted with them.
She made her speech in a meeting in the Kanifing Municipality as part of President Adama Barrow’s Meet-With-the People’s Tour on Saturday.

Secretary General and Party Leader of the UDP, Ousainou Darboe told waiting supporters at his gate along Pipeline admitted that the allegations are “shocking and painful” but the UDP is known for its resolve to maintaining peace and harmony.

“What happened on Saturday in the presence of the president is nothing than [attempt] to instigate chaos”, he said.
Lawyer Darboe opined that, the president should have been seen condemning the ‘irresponsible’ speech [of the expelled UDP MP] failure of which indicates approval of chaos in the country.

He commended his party supporters for exercising restraint despite the pain from the criticism, and advised them to resist division as a result of politics.

The National Assembly Member for Tallinding, together with seven other colleagues were expelled from the United Democratic Party in November for ‘supporting president Adama Barrow’s on a five-year transitional mandate’ which goes against the will of their party.
