Hiking The White Mountains Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest

Short video from a hiking and camping trip to the White Mountains Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the Eastern Sierra Nevadas. The trail in this clip is called the Methuselah Trail and is accessible from the Visitor Center at the Schulman Grove. In the background at the switchback you can see part of the Great Basin and Death Valley.

The Methusela Trail:

Distance from Trailhead: 4.2 miles (loop)
Ending/Highest Elevation: 10,1980-ft
Elevation Gain: 800 ft.

There is a second hiking trail called the Discovery Trail that is an easier 1.0 mile loop from the Visitor Center at the Schulman Grove.

If you have an offroad capable vehicle with all terrain tires you may want to consider visiting the higher elevation Patriarch Grove.

These are high elevation locations so be mindful of the altitude and give yourself time to acclimate.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pines are some of the oldest trees in the world with some over 4,000 years old. The scenery and natural beauty is breathtakingly beautiful. If you have the opportunity the White Mountains are well worth the visit.
