Linux on Chromebook Just Got Much Better

Описание к видео Linux on Chromebook Just Got Much Better

A recent update to ChromeOS added a bunch of features, the biggest of which is GPU acceleration for certain Chromebooks.

Now that we have access to graphics acceleration, Linux on Chromebook just got much better!

I'll be doing more thorough videos in the future, exploring what you can and can't do with the acceleration.

GPU acceleration, at this point, is only officially available on the following machines:
• Google Pixelbook (eve)
• Dell Inspiron 14 (used in this video)
• Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630
• Acer Chromebook 13
• Acer Chromebook Spin 13
• HP X360 Chromebook 14

☀ Steps for activating GPU acceleration:
Open Chrome browser, navigate to chrome://flags/#crostini-gpu-support and enable the flag.
The browser will prompt you to restart, click on the ‘Restart Now’.
Open the terminal and run “sudo apt-get update” .
Now run “sudo apt-get dist-upgrade” command, then restart your device once again.
To test it’s set up, open terminal and run “glxinfo -B”.
If the command is not found run “sudo apt-get install mesa-utils”.
