Drottningholm Palace has been added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is our best preserved royal palace in Sweden, built in the 17th century, and is a model of European royal architecture of that time.

Take a day trip to Drottningholm and experience historical surroundings of the highest international standing. With its exotic Chinese palace, the palace theater and the magnificent palace park, the palace complex forms a unique ensemble.

The castle was built based on French models by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder. Ä. built by order of Queen Hedwig Eleonora. Since then, several royal personalities have shaped the castle.

The royal family moved to Drottningholm Palace in 1981. Today the castle is the permanent residence of the royal couple. The royal couple's private rooms are located in the south wing of the palace. However, most parts of the castle and its gardens are open to the public all year round.
