The Unnao rape case is one of India’s most disturbing examples of how power, politics, and crime can collide. In 2017, a minor girl accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape. Instead of justice, the survivor and her family faced threats, false cases, custodial death of her father, a mysterious road accident, and repeated attempts to silence her.

Despite immense pressure and systemic failure, the survivor’s fight did not stop. After nationwide outrage and intervention by the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to CBI. In 2019, Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
