Most patients questioned Dr. Nesi Bahar (Principal Consultant at Signature Clinic) the same questions about blepharoplasty surgery. Here are some of the frequently asked questions that Dr. Nesi has answered for our viewers who are considering blepharoplasty surgery.

What is lower Blepharoplasty?
This is a procedure we conduct in our clinic under local anaesthesia. This procedure takes around ninety minutes and its goal is to get rid of those puffy bags under your eyes that make you look old and tired. The best thing about this procedure is that it is done under local anaesthetic, meaning you can go back to your normal life as soon as the procedure is over!

What is upper blepharoplasty?
This is a procedure we conduct in our clinic under local anaesthesia. This procedure takes around ninety minutes and its goal is to get rid of hooded/ drooping eyelids. It can go beyond restoring function and appearance by potentially improving vision caused by excess skin sagging in front of the eye. Eyelid surgery is most commonly undertaken for cosme tic reasons to improve an aged appearance or hooded heaviness.

Will upper Blepharoplasty improve my vision?
A lot of people wonder if I have upper Blepharoplasty will it improve my vision? Well, is this excess eyelid skin already affecting your vision? In a lot of cases we find that this excess skin hangs over the eye so, Blepharoplasty will fix this as it removes the hanging skin!

When should I consider blepharoplasty?
As long as you have enough excess skin or fat protrusions then we can go in and sort this problem for you. So, you don't have to wait until your thirties, forties or fifties. If you are born with naturally hooded eyes you can have this procedure done at any age over 18.

Does the procedure hurt?
The good news is we are not here to hurt you, we are here to make you happy! So of course not! You are going to feel a few injections around your eyes in order for us to numb you, after that, you won't be able to feel anything! Another good thing about this procedure is you do not need anything stronger than paracetamol during your recovery.

Can you perform upper and lower blepharoplasty at the same time?
Yes, at Signature clinic we can perform both upper and lower Blepharoplasty comfortably under local anaesthesia. However, you will have slightly more bruising as you get two procedures done at once.

What is the aftercare for Blepharoplasty?
One of the most important things to do is to apply ice, this brings down the swelling rapidly. One of the things we provide is chloramphenicol cream. You apply this antibacterial cream to the incision lines to avoid infections. Another essential product we provide is witch hazel. We recommend chilling the witch hazel in the fridge, pouring it onto a cotton
pad and resting on both your eyes for a few minutes. This will also help with any bruising or swelling.
