Opposition MPs, led by Congress’ Jairam Ramesh, declared the absence “an insult to the House” and demanded an immediate adjournment until a Cabinet minister arrived. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan acknowledged the objection, directing a junior minister to summon a senior member of the Cabinet. After waiting several minutes without compliance, the House was adjourned for 10 minutes.
