TASS continues its webinar series on sustainable school buildings - this time with a focus on solar energy. This webinar aims to provide inspiration, substantive learning, and practical knowledge about the contribution solar can make to reduce schools’ carbon emissions.

Our speakers included:

Balsam Nehme: Representing the board of the Emirates Green Building Council, Balsam plays an influential role in the development of high- performance, net-zero design and carbon reduction pathways. She brings over 18 years of expertise in embodied carbon, resiliency, and green certifications.

Anthony Dixon: Anthony is a renewable energy and sustainability expert. In addition to founding The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS), he is the CEO of Helios Renewable Energy – a solar energy company, and Metanoia – a consultancy working with schools to make a difference to the sustainability of their campus and community.

Sophia Hasnaoui: Sophia combines her commercial expertise and engineering education to bring forth the best solar solutions for her customers at Yellow Door Energy. She works closely with businesses in the UAE and Oman to help them adopt solar, reduce energy costs, and lower carbon emissions.

Alexander Varghese: As the Head of Operations at Swiss International Scientific School (SISD), Alex leads the development and implementation of operational strategies, policies, and sustainability practices - including a solar carport that delivers 25% of the school’s energy needs.

Gullrukh Rafiq: Gull is a devoted educational leader at SISD committed to sustainability and student enterprise. With over 10 years of experience in the international education community, she focuses on students as the epicentre of daily practice and advocates for nurturing environments that foster curiosity.
