After 18 years as a professional player with West Ham, our very own Captain Fantastic is hanging up his boots. My own feelings are that he's been an amazing servant, player, leader and representative of our club, and it felt proper that an East Ender led us out of the Boleyn Ground in 2016 and was the first captain at the London Stadium.

It's not always been easy, neither he nor the club are decorated in medals, but we know he always gave everything, and for that, I'll always be appreciative.

Mr West Ham might be the last of a dying breed of a local boy spending his entire career with his boyhood club, so it was a privileged to be part of that journey.

Two back to back European finishes is a first for us and not a bad way to bow out.
