Anyone with even the slightest interest in aviation has probably heard countless stories about the C-47 Dakota — and I’m no exception. I’ve seen this aircraft many times on static display and often found myself wondering, “Do you really have to travel to some remote corner of Africa to see one actually flying?”

Finally, I had the chance to see it take to the skies, and it was nothing short of incredible. Here it is: the civilian version of the legendary C-47, the Douglas DC-3 “Turkish Delight.”

It’s hard to describe the feeling of watching such an iconic piece of aviation history still alive and flying. For me, it was a moment to remember.
