In a successful counter-terrorism action named Operation Mahadev, security forces have killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. The slain terrorists, identified as LeT commander Suleiman alias Faizal Jatt, and high-ranking members Afghan and Jibran, were responsible for the attack in Pahalgam that killed civilians. The operation was a joint effort by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, based on intelligence from the IB and Military Intelligence. A crucial part of the investigation involved forensic evidence, with a laboratory in Chandigarh confirming the link between the terrorists and the attack. "It was a 100% match that these three rifles were used." The investigation by the NIA included statements from 1055 people and identification of the terrorists by individuals who had provided them with shelter.
