Ancient Egypt: The Mummification Process KS2

Описание к видео Ancient Egypt: The Mummification Process KS2

Learn about how Ancient Egyptians made mummies in preparation for their journey into the afterlife.

First they removed the organs from the body, placing them into canopic jars. Then they covered the body in salt to dry it out before stuffing it with sawdust and herbs. Next, they wrapped the body in linen, placing amulets inside for good luck. Then a face mask was placed over the body. Afterwards, a priest wearing a mask of the god Anubis said prayers over the body. It was then put inside a sarcophagus, then another sarcophagus, then into a coffin, finally ready to begin the journey to the afterlife.
