New lanark is an 18th-century cotton mill village sitting alongside the picturesque River Clyde.
New Lanark tells the internationally important story of new lanark , from its founding as a cotton spinning village in 1785 to the enlightened social and workplace reforms of Robert Owen in the early 19th century .
Since 1974 New Lanark has been restored and brought back to life ,and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
