This conversation was with Carla Overbeck.

A longtime member of the United States women’s national soccer team and current assistant coach of the Duke University women’s soccer team, many know Carla as captain of the 1995 U.S World Cup squad, the gold medal 1996 U.S Olympic Team, the 1999 World Cup Championship team, and the silver medal 2000 Olympic Team.

Perhaps lesser-known is that in August 2022, U.S Soccer unveiled The Carla Overbeck Leadership Award. Each year, U.S Soccer presents this award to an individual working within the U.S Soccer landscape who demonstrates exemplary motivation, leadership by example, adaptability, mentorship, and contribution to the success of an initiative outside their own organization.
