*🔬 PRINCIPLE BEHIND THE EXPERIMENT:*

Simple distillation is a physical separation technique, not a chemical reaction. It works by exploiting the difference in the volatility (or boiling points) of the components in a liquid mixture. Since ethanol has a lower boiling point than water, it evaporates first when heated. The ethanol vapor then travels into a cold condenser, where it turns back into a liquid and is collected separately as the distillate.
