Sophie Tucker, born Sofia Kalish on January 13, 1886, and passing away on February 9, 1966, was an American singer, comedian, actress, and radio personality. She was well-known for her powerful delivery of comical and risqué songs, which made her one of the most popular entertainers in the U.S. during the first half of the 20th century. She was often referred to by the nickname "the Last of the Red-Hot Mamas".
