A 5th principle of interpreting scripture is that you should always use clear passages to interpret unclear passages. So let’s say we found the timeline ambiguous here. Could it be just 6 24 hour days or could it be interpreted differently? Here’s a more clear passage from Exodus 20, when God is giving the 10 Commandments and is talking about the Sabbath Day and how the Israelites should do no work on the seventh day of the week. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Reinforces that all of creation was finished in one real, regular week.
