How to Talk So Children Cooperate…

Do your children usually do what you ask without too much fuss, or do they ignore you until you repeat yourself again and again, only responding when they sense irritation in your tone? Repeating, reminding, and nagging is a pattern many loving, committed parents fall into. We wish to be kind and understanding towards our children but end up feeling frustrated with them.

The way we deliver our messages can help children cooperate without us needing to be assertive, shout, threaten, or punish. This gentle and respectful method allows parents to reclaim their leadership and authority. It works with children of all ages, including teenagers.

The method starts with getting physically close to our children and waiting for eye contact before we speak. While this can feel difficult and time-consuming, it actually saves endless arguments and delaying tactics.
