A blast of wind has stuck for just a while.
That’s it… And there’s no other reason why
In stillness of this summer, hot and dry,
The wind has risen, ripped me from my nest,
And let me feel your heartbeat on your chest.

Я – жёлтый листик на груди твоей.
Меня на миг к тебе прибило ветром.
Вот и конец. И не найти ответа,
зачем в тиши изнеженного лета
поднялся ветер и, сорвав с ветвей,
мне дал на миг прильнуть к груди твоей.

ANUBIS GOES ON HOLIDAYS

He waits and waits. But they are not coming.
He rubs his paws and yawns.
And the time, which was buzzing so evilly
at the threshold of the office, falls ill –
having lied too much, it freezes,
like a brainless fly, that got stuck in amber.

Anubis is slumbering. Finally, there are steps –
unsteady steps. And a timid knock. And the creaking
of the heavy doors. "Hello, my dear man.
Sit down"– the beast leafs through a manuscript.

And the visitor, a feeble old man,
pales, making him out better –
there sits a jackal, a monster, a mediator
with the afterlife, with the sufferings for many years.
And miserable, dirty, skinny as a skeleton,
the old man painfully whispers:
"I am the last one".

Pleased, the jackal wags his tail –
"I completed the catalog – all the bile and gossip,
human squabbles, howling for thousands of years ...
Oh my, what a vile volume –
a detailed and thorough inventory.
... And you, my dear, must go to the third dungeon,
there, waiting for you, is the white-toothed Amat".

He closes the volume –
and goes on holidays,
To the now empty Crete – to chase cats,
or to look for the she-wolf in the ruins of Rome ...
In the dress of the unpicked flowers
the land is beautiful and boundless.
No wars, no troubles, no sacrificial fires.
Until the new races. Until the new disasters.

АНУБИС ЕДЕТ В ОТПУСК

Он ждёт и ждёт. А их всё нет и нет.
Он потирает лапки и зевает.
И время, у порога в кабинет
жужжавшее так зло, заболевает –
завравшись и зарвавшись – застывает
безмозглой мухой, влипшей в аллингит.

Анубис дремлет. Наконец, шаги –
нетвёрдые. И робкий стук. И скрип
тяжёлой двери. «Здравствуйте, голубчик.
Входите» – зверь листает манускрипт.

А посетитель, немощный старик,
бледнеет, разглядев его получше –
сидит шакал, чудовище, посредник
страны загробной, мук на много лет.
И жалкий, грязный, тощий как скелет,
старик тоскливо шепчет:
«Я – последний».

На радостях шакал вильнёт хвостом –
«Дописан каталог – вся желчь и сплетни,
людские дрязги, вой тысячелетний…
Какой, однако, препротивный том –
подробная и тщательная опись.
…А вам, голубчик, в третий каземат,
там ждёт вас белозубая Амат».

Закроет опус.
И уедет в отпуск
на опустевший Крит – гонять котов,
искать волчицу на руинах Рима…
В наряде из несорванных цветов
земля прекрасна и необозрима.
Ни войн, ни смут, ни жертвенных костров.
До новых рас. До новых катастроф.
