Every year, on this auspicious occasion, I think to myself that this time I’ll try something other than Modak, but then Gannu’s sad face comes in front of me and I give in!! 😅

So my dearest, most benevolent & intelligent Gannu, this time I’ve made these yuummalicious modaks for you but not without my healthy twist! After all a mother is a mother is a mother 😉😅🥰🙏

Let’s make some “Pista & Figs Modaks” They are stunning to look at; the outer shell is made of bright green and super healthy Pistachios and are filled with the gooeyness of softened figs along with the crunch of some more toasted nuts! Yes you heard that right- the entire Mithai is made of only nuts and anjeer!!!

For these Modaks I’ve used #Nutraj Bactopure- India’s first pathogen free nuts and dried fruit brand making them safer and even more healthy for our special Ganpati ji 🙏🙏🙏

Ganesh Chaturthi - Pista & Figs Modak

Ingredients
Pista - 200 gms
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Powdered sugar - 50 gms
Milk - ¼ cup
Silver Varakh for garnish (if we are not putting it then remove this)
Water as required

For the filing
Soaked figs - 2-3
Chopped toasted Nuts of choice - ¼ cup

Method
Soak the pistas for about 30 mins in hot water. Then de-skin them. Grind them using a little milk and water to form a fine paste. Now add this to a pan and cook along with sugar till it thickens & starts leaving the sides of the pan. Remove & allow to cool slightly.
For the filling, soak the figs in hot water for 30 mins. Toast all the nuts. Then drain the water from the figs & roughly chop along with the nuts.
Now take a modak mould, grease them with some ghee, take some of the pista mixture & press it down in the mould keeping some space in the center for the filling. Add the filling and seal with some more pista mixture.
Remove the modak from the mould gently.
Garnish with varakh and let them become the beauty of your puja ki thaali!
