It’s been five years since Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte took power and declared a bloody drug war.

His strategy? Kill, kill, kill. Bodies have been piling up on the streets, in a crackdown that has been targeted towards poor communities.

But there’s a hidden cost to this drug war that has been often overlooked: the families left behind by the victims, particularly the women and the children.

VICE World News’ Natashya Gutierrez speaks with women who have found new opportunities despite the impacts of the drug war.
