It was supposed to be presented to the general public in September 1984 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The premiere was postponed to a specially organized event at the end of November '84 in Spain, which was allegedly due to the fear that many design innovations would be overlooked by the competition. The W124 differed dramatically from its predecessor, W123. Smooth, stylistically simple, but aerodynamically optimized and elegant, using a lot of plastic and a minimum of chrome. The first units were delivered to customers in the early months of 1985, and over the 12 years of production more than 2.5 million were built. The scale of production, high quality and durability of these cars made it the most popular car on the youngtimer scene today. This Mercedes 230E W124 comes from the first production run, meaning it is a so-called "narrow strip". It is equipped with a durable and reliable M102 engine, matched with an optional 5-speed transmission. Its condition is beautiful and so is the color scheme.
