DIY Ruffle Collar Layered Baby Frock | Easy Cutting & Stitching Tutorial | Baby Dress Making

Welcome to my channel! Today, I’ll show you how to make a beautiful ruffle collar layered baby frock. This dress has a stylish Peter Pan collar with a ruffle detail, a buttoned bodice, and a gathered layered skirt. Let’s start!

Step 1: Taking Measurements & Drafting the Pattern
• Measure the baby’s chest, shoulder, armhole, and full frock length.
• Draft the bodice pattern with front and back pieces, adding 1-inch ease for comfort.
• Draw the Peter Pan collar pattern with an extra curve for ruffles.
• Cut a long rectangle for the skirt, dividing it into two layers for a flared effect.

Step 2: Cutting the Fabric
• Fold the fabric and cut two bodice pieces (front & back).
• Cut two collar pieces along with an extra fabric strip for the ruffle.
• Cut two rectangular pieces for the skirt layers (one slightly longer than the other).
• Prepare small fabric bows for decoration.

Step 3: Stitching the Bodice & Collar
• Join the shoulder seams of the front and back bodice.
• Stitch the side seams, leaving space for armholes.
• Take the collar pieces, attach the ruffle strip between them, and stitch it neatly.
• Attach the ruffle collar to the neckline.

Step 4: Preparing & Attaching the Layered Skirt
• Take the first skirt layer, make gathers, and attach it to the bodice.
• Repeat the same for the second longer layer to create a layered look.
• Ensure even gathers for a neat, voluminous finish.

• Stitch bias tape or piping on the armholes.
• Secure the button placket and attach buttons.
• Add small bows on the skirt layers for a stylish touch.
• Finish with a clean hem at the bottom.
