Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third installment of the reboot of Tomb Raider. The setting is at least a year after Rise of the Tomb Raider. Lara has tracked Trinity in Mexico where they are looking for a ceremonial dagger. Lara discovers that Dr. Dominguez is the leader of Trinity.

Lara is able to find the dagger first and impulsively takes it to keep away from Trinity. However in removing the dagger, she triggered an apocalypse. An earthquake immediately begins while she is in the tomb but escapes before it gets destroyed. Trinity finds Lara after she escaped and took the dagger from her. Dominguez asks for a box that is connected to the ceremonial dagger. Lara doesn’t have the box which Dominguez is upset that she would be careless to take the dagger without having the box. A tsunami was triggered from the earthquake and makes its way to the village where Lara and Trinity are. Trinity escapes in a helicopter and Lara runs to escape the water.

Lara is upset with herself and is determined to correct the mistake she made. Lara travels to South America to find the box before Trinity does and stop the apocalypse.
