Here you'll find a concise explanation of the 4 routes into the UK for work purposes for EU citizens in Creative and Sporting work.

You cannot and MUST NOT try to enter for work paid or unpaid on a tourism visit as a non visa national. If you do you risk being turned away at the border and possible brief detention before deportation.

There is no permit free period for work at all in the UK other than some very specific examples like permit free festivals and events of which there are very few.

The four routes are

NEW Certificate of sponsorship concession route , all this requires is a UK registered sponsor to issue this ; costs vary a lot ,shop around ! this allows entry for up to 90 days and can be multi entry .. this can be cheaper than the PPE route below depending on who you go to and how they provide this service. Remember sponsors like myself ( A rated ) are NOT selling Certificates they are providing a service which requires they hold records and will need you to supply basic information to allow them to issue. Usually not as onerous as the other visa routes. The sponsor can also confirm financial support for the worker which means the worker needs nothing other than the CoS .. however always worth while carrying contract copies etc ..

Permitted Paid Engagement route ( no cost ) turn up at the border with supporting documentation and hope the immigration officer accepts your documents and assertions you are an artist / sportsperson of international renown . Note the immigration officer has full authority to decide this and you have no right of appeal at that point. This route allows maximum 30 days work. You HAVE to have an invitation in writing along with all other documents .

Permitted Paid Engagement VISA route , exactly the same as turning up at the border in terms of documentation required but with formal visa application in advance , current cost 95 pounds ...

Finally full Creative & Sporting Tier 5 visa current cost 244 pounds PLUS CoS and full supporting documentation ... these can last up t year and can of course allow multiple entry. These are really for people intending to work a lot in the UK and or stay for a prolonged period to engage in work.
