Pros:
very versatile
THD construction

removable feet on top of screws for absolute maximum stability
20mA current draw (Maxon VOP9 draws 30mA@18V & 23mA@9V)
can be completely transparent and clean with lots of headroom and volume
at full gain, it can go from clean when picking lightly to tapping-on-a-strat high gain
noise free
huge volume available
incredible tones with literally any setup + very easy to set

Cons:
"Kick" switch sometimes creates a thud when flicked

Neutral:
it's true bypass, something we prefer much more than buffered bypass

The verdict:
It's about as close as you can imagine to THE drive. Suffice to say it's above and beyond for the modern versatility demanding player. But if you're a minimalist, or just not into pedalboards and powersupplies, this may well compete even with your prized Maxons. Teisco really went for gold here. That katakana inscription (reads "overdrive") is not just for show: they really went with the very careful design of everything in proper old-school Japanese tradition, and with THD components! Yes, even Maxon has transitioned to full SMT to many of their pedals, not to mention frugal Boss resting on laurels at this point. But Teisco took the hard vintage path: beautiful and ergonomic design and build, and it can run on a 9V battery! THANK YOU!! No more are you tethered to your pedalboard, you can just grab this and rock! And it's so versatile, even more so than many Maxon wonders. If you like modern drives, this will amaze. But if you like Maxon and old school Boss like we do, you will ask yourself whether you are dreaming or not, haha! IT IS LEGENDARY!
