Max the cat, whom we believe to be around 15 years of age (human years), but won't meow either way, is a professional cola taste tester in Jacksonville, Fla., and who is known for his rough tongue decisions when it comes to taste testing. Though today, in the Cola nationals taste competition that was held Feb. 6, 2005, at my brother's home in Orange Park, decided after pawing his way through so many different colas over the years, not to mention today, including, Coke, Diet Coke, Diet Rite, Pepsi, Orange drink, and even Root Beer, and knowing that we were watching and we were waiting, pawing for his decision that we thought would never come.
He would only look up at us from time to time, knowing what he was doing to us as we watched him, but we just waited for him to give us some kind of sign by either a scratch or a hiss, maybe even a cough which we figured might never happen. Though as we waited pawingly for his decision, and wondered how much longer should we should let this go on, but dealing with Max, knowing that maybe it was just old age, we decided to just let him take his time, and let him tell us when the time was right. Because knowing Max, somethings were never going to change with a grumpy old guy like himself. So we waited and waited for him to make some kind of move.
At times, he would look one way or another, even tilting his head toward Root Beer, but oh no, and so he would make us wait, thinking that maybe we might not approach him anytime soon for a decision and just giving him all the time he needed to finish the small sample he was working on. Finally, after all the contenders, meowing, "This is really so hard," at times, he looked like he was going to meow a winner, but once again, no. We could see that it was going to be a close race, and we could see his fur even began to shed. Though in the end, he decided that Coca-Cola was the clear winner, beating them all out.
So Max gives it Two Paws Up!!! We tried to get a word with him after the contest on camera so we could ask him, "Why Coke Max, why Coke?" though he seemed to be in a hurry to get out of town as we approached him scratching and clawing his way out of the room knowing we wanted to speak with him about this matter. We could see we had just missed our chance to speak with him about his decision, and wondered as we pawed over the fact that he was born and raised in Atlanta, did that have anything to do with his decision?
So we had come to terms that maybe we would never get a word with him on his decision, but after a little break he decided to come out of hiding, so we thought this is our chance, let's go for it, though Max declined to meow on camera, and was just hissing at us and one of the crew members, a female audio dog. Later in the afternoon when the judging competition had been over for sometime, and the hair on his neck receded back to its normal state, he meowed that he would only meow to us off camera, and off the pads of his paws, as he was known to do.
He meowed this was harder than when he judged in the Nationals' Cat Food versus Tuna Competition, but he meowed Chicken of the Sea was a true winner and meowing scratching his way through all the colas was like getting his paws wet, and he hissed at us again, meowing that's something that makes my fur stand up just thinking about it.
When we asked him about the possible controversy with Coke Classic over Pepsi, he just meowed as he trotted away meowing that Coke was a clear winner, by nine whiskers, and that Coca-Cola Classic won four paws down, and that the others didn't have a paw to stand on against Coke, and that this was an original, and nothing is like an old classic like myself. Purrrrrr...
P.S. I want everyone to know that I'm not a professional writer, and I did this just off the top of my head about Max The Cat, though sometimes I think that maybe I could have been a great writer because I write allot as you can see if you look at the other videos I have posted on here, and the stories behind them. They are journeys of my life's travels.
