The Arrival of my Grandfather’s Grand Piano…

My 93 year old grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease a few years ago. Recently this year, he and my grandmother have moved out of their house in Oxnard CA that I used to go to every year since I was a baby.

We never expected him to have this disease. It’s truly a tough subject to talk about which is why it took me some time to make this video as well as being busy with college.

I figured with the extra time that Christmas break brought me and with 2022 coming to an end, I figured this would be a nice video to end off the year with.

Luckily my grandfather is still active physically, he still goes on walks and plays ping pong, he still has his upright piano in his possession, and still has his great sense of humor.

This Steinway baby grand piano was built in 1923 and my grandfather first got it when he was 7. My mom and her sisters grew up watching him play that piano. It has been through multiple generations and will continue to live on for generations to come.

With that being said, I will never refer this piano as “my piano”. I will always refer to this piano as my grandpa’s piano.
