1 (15.25-ounce) box cake mix, i did yellow cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil , or melted butter
2 large eggs
1 to 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
10 oz. bag of mini chocolate chips
2/3 cup crushed up peppermint candy canes or peppermint candies

Before we start making the cookies, take some of the mini chocolate chips morels and some of the crushed peppermints aside so you can use some on top of the cookie too like a granish before baking the cookies, and set it aside till needed.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir the cake mix, oil, eggs and vanilla extract until combined.
Now add in your mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermints and mix well again till well combined.
The batter is going to be thick and sticky, but If you have time, refrigerate the dough 15 to 20 minutes to chill (it will make it a little easier to work with, since it is sticky). But you don't have to cause I didn't.
Using a cookie scoop, scoop the dough onto the baking sheet. Then I oil my hands and roll them into balls for a smoother look. But you don't have to roll them like I do it's optional.
Press dough balls down slightly, then we top we extra goodies.
Top with additional toppings of the mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermints that you saved back if desired.
Bake 7 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are just set. They will be light brown on the bottom and will be a softer cookie. Watch them don't burn them.
Let cool a few minutes on the baking sheet and then transfer to a cooling rack.
Then after there cooled some you can serve them.
Store in a covered container.
