Here is a Quick Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning your Gutters and Downspouts

Start with the Gutters:
Remove all debris from inside the gutters to ensure a clear path for water flow.
Inspect the Downspouts, Check for blockages. If you find one, you’ll need to take the downspout apart to clear it.
Disassemble Carefully:
Many downspouts are held together by rivets or screws.
If rivets are used, carefully drill them out with a 1/8" drill bit. Once the blockage is cleared, replace the rivets with screws for easier future maintenance.
Check for Underground Drainage Issues:
If your downspout connects to an underground drainage system, the clog could be below ground.
Over time, underground pipes can break or become infiltrated by roots from nearby shrubs and trees.
Consider a Solution:
If underground drainage is damaged or frequently clogs, it may be best to install a corrugated pipe above ground. This helps divert water away from your home while avoiding underground maintenance headaches.
