How to beat Putrid Avatar boss in Elden Ring. I found myself a little under-levelled when I came across him and all of his moves one-shot me. Regardless, I'm not one to back down from a fight, so I had no choice but to do a no-hit kill. For anyone having trouble with him, this is an example of how to stay in hit range as much as you can, rather than running away half the time. Assuming you can handle your dodge/iframes.

For anyone struggling, here are some tips for this method:
Don't use bleed, he's immune.
Use fire on your weapons (I didn't try any other elements or magic).
Don't get greedy with hits. He will delay many of his attacks, typically until he has rotated to face close to your position if you are not in front of him.
His rot spray is not a full 180 degree arc, so you can dodge to his backside to avoid it, rather than running away in front of him. If you dodge at an angle to him, you can then wait on the edge of the rot to bait his next rot spray to land almost at the edge of the first spray, leaving you a wedge of safe space on the opposite side. Dodge at a 45 degree angle towards his opposite side when he is coming down from his jump.
You can avoid the holy projectiles all together (with a bit of luck) if you keep your Stance Break meter mostly full, breaking his stance when he's about to start that attack. You can till when he lifts his weapon vertically above his head before plunging it into the ground. I found he usually attempts this attack just over half health, unless the fight is going slow. He then does it a second time around a quarter health. Obviously this isn't an exact science and it is random, but in my attempts that was the usual.
If you do have to dodge the holy projectiles, you can either sprint, or mount up and sprint. Just be sure to run in a circle perpendicular to him, but also away from him, in order to avoid both the projectiles and the large range of his attacks.

The one frustration I have with this boss is the rot vomit cloud. It appears to be telegraphed around when he begins his jump, rather than when he lands and actually sprays the rot as would be more logical. He can also rotate while in the air. As a result, you have to bait the start of his jump, and can't use his orientation when he starts descending to gauge where the rot will be. The other cheap trick is the pink coloured rot that renders under the white grass on red/purple dirt, making it rather hard to see.
