Or asking if they want a great son who will live only till the age of 16, Mrigandu Damapati asked for a boon of a 16-year-old son.Markandeyar, who was born by the grace of God to Mrigandu couple, became a great devotee of Shiva. When he turned 16, his parents told Markandeyer that his life span was 16 years as God had told him. When Markandeyar was visiting every Shiva place that Lord Shiva could save his life, he arrived at Thirukkadavoor. When he reached Thirukkadavoor, his life was nearing its end.
