Top 5 Tips to Prepare for an Allergy Skin Test:

1. Discontinue certain medications. Stop taking antihistamines (like Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, and Xyzal) at least five days before your test, as they can interfere with results.

2. Wear comfortable clothing. Choose loose clothing that allows easy access to your forearm or back.

3. Arrive with clean skin. Avoid lotions, creams, or oils before your appointment.

4. Expect mild discomfort. The tiny skin pricks may cause slight itching or irritation that usually goes away quickly.

5. Plan for a mild reaction. Some redness or swelling is normal after testing.

Important Note: Do not stop taking your other prescribed medications (such as asthma inhalers, thyroid, diabetes, or blood pressure meds) without guidance from your doctor.
