Polycystic kidney diseases are where the kidneys are swollen because there will be something called the developmental anomalies and both the kidneys, you will find that there is lot of cyst or cavity filled fluid or cystic fluid. It can cause discomfort of the abdomen. Most of the time it is asymptomatic. it is detected by routine scanning and it doesn’t give any symptoms unless there is any infections or sometimes there is bleeding from the cysts causing severe pain. Most of the times, the patients they have some pain in the abdomen, they get the scanning done, then they will have this renal problem only at the 5th or 6th decade of life and usually it present with high blood pressure. So any patient who comes with high blood pressure, then routinely this scanning is done.
