The Enforcement custody of M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, has been extended for six more days. The ED requested the court to extend his custody based on the evidence obtained against him. M Sivasankar informed the court that he was not tortured in their custody and got enough rest.

The ED stated in the court that they found Sivasankar had transferred certain confidential documents related to government projects Life Mission and K Phone to Swapna Suresh via WhatsApp. The ED told the court that they need to look into more details in this regard. Sivasankar has admitted to handing over to Swapna the full details of government projects. Swapna had passed the information to companies including UNITAC and she also received commission for the same.
The ED told the court that the Life Mission case and gold smuggling case are connected. In the affidavit filed in the court the ED asserted that Sivasankar has connections with other main accused of the gold smuggling case. The ED has found that Sivasankar has ties with Khalid, a consulate employee. At the inception he did not divulge his links with Khalid and told them that it was Khalid who got the commission from UNITAC. The ED also said that Sivasankar is trying to mislead the probe. They also claimed that Sivasankar did not cooperate with the officials during the first three days of interrogation.

The ED has asked C M Raveendran, Chief Minister’s Additional Private Secretary, to appear before them on Friday for interrogation. And it is reported that the ED will be questioning both together in the context of Sivasankar’s custody extension. Raveendran has been summoned by the ED on suspicion of providing unwarranted assistance to Uralungal, including projects in the IT department.
