Описание к видео From RAVES to Telly? : TERRORIZE 1992 Live PA (Richard Alexander)

EDIT - more detail

This was an experience; something I did for about a year or two, mostly at weekends and mostly under the name Terrorize, although others were also employed depending on the geographic location. This was the early 90s, and it was the wild west (even to the point where a nightclub manager persuaded to go on stage pretending to be a VERY famous rave outfit who'd not shown up from Liverpool for their support slot in Halifax! Luckily, my old school mates directly in front of the stage were so twatted they didn't notice anything was up, even when the bloody DJ's vinyl jumped!!!)

Anyway, Terrorize was a band started in the early 90s by Shaun Imrei, who joined up with Jon O'Halloran at some point, and then they split. Didn't really know either at that point, but Jon got a band together to go out and play 'live sets'. Okay, so Alison, who could really wail as she was a rock singer in her other combo, I think, but I could be wrong, with her husband. All a rave PA consisted of, back then, was a DAT tape, with singers/MCs using live mics; the rest mimed. At some point an old friend from Hipperholme Grammar School, Simon Iredale, joined up and the 'extras' line-up became a bit, um, fluid. It was a fun high if you got invited to make up the numbers on stage. You got to be a pop star for ten minutes, no talent necessary!!!

Those three (John, Alison, Simon), along with bassist Martin and keyboard player Neil, were serious about making music, and I was frequently at John's studio setup (a council flat in Illingworth, Halifax, UK). As was the case at that time, making dance music was all about Cubase, MIDI, synths, drum machines and samplers; I recall Jon getting an Akai S3000XL and being told it was 'a game changer'! Their stuff was good, Ali could sing and they were VERY close to being signed by Muff Winwood—Sony were going to drop Sunscreem for them. They had a few names: The Love Revolution, Evolution, and some more I can't recall now. Ultimately they lost the deal, and I think that everyone went their own ways after that.

It was an exciting place to be hanging around, and as I was studying computers, then electronic media at Bradford Uni', perfectly logical. Post-split, Simon brought all his gear to my house in Wibsey, Bradford, which was awesome as I got to play around with a Cubase setup. I studied music a bit as a kid (played brass for four years) but was never convinced I'd be good enough, although I did write a lot of lyrics/poems; I still do, except now they're short films, TV programmes, books, scripts, screenplays, etc.

John certainly carried on making music for a long time, being involved in my Degree final assignment, helping with the music for my film, One Ball One Language, in 1996. He also did a dance version of Stuck in the middle With You by Steeler's Wheel, the PA being called Reservoir Gods! John persuaded me back on stage and for the photoshoot, of which I still have the resultant promo cards somewhere. Unsurprisingly, I also made a promo video for it (thanks, Bradford Uni/College/Media Museum, whose access to gear launched my fledgling career). We did a few PAs, dressed in suits, miming keyboards and the finale would have had us locked up nowadays, as it involved replica weapons and blank roads!!!

More recently, he penned an amazing track, called WARRIOR, which he offered up for a project I was doing with Prostate Cancer UK, featuring amateur ultra-runner, Kevin Webber. Kevin, a merchant banker, was given a terminal, incurable diagnosis but has just kept running and is YEARS over that best guess scenario. Google him, and you'll see the music placed in some of these shorts films I made.

So, back to the original details I flippantly filled in when uploading. I guess when you have as media as I find myself presiding over, you get lazy, especially if the back story will take ages to type and YOU JUST KNOW it won't be appreciated or read.... (original deets below)

**************************************************************************************************
So.... some mates were doin' their thing making music, playing raves and the rest. Essentially, Terrorize

Not being much cop at making (decent) music I was relegated to the back of the stage, plonking away on a keyboard. Although if you're interested you can see me in my floppy-haired college days when 'we' got an award for something. Don't ask me what it was for; it was about 1992, and A LOT has happened since! ;-)

***************************************************************************************************
The award: at 2:05 Alan is at the front, I'm in red to the left, Alison to his right, Jon with the long hair and Simon with the short hair.
On stage: blink and miss me at 3:06 and other brief moments in time! It was wild AND Funny blagging it on stage.
