Here's an interesting story... you have Programma Intl. releasing Apple Invaders on tape cassette -- a very decent port of the smash arcade hit Space Invaders. Legality is certainly in question, as the Atari 2600 was the first officially licensed home version of Space Invaders and that wasn't until 1980. It was one of the major reasons for Atari's breakthrough success starting that year.

Here we have a very good home computer version showing off the Apple II's excellent graphics capabilities (for its time). I suspect if the Apple II was a much larger platform or company at the time, there might have certainly been more issue with the liberal use of the Space Invaders license "license".

But yes, the game plays well... accurate to the original graphics, the space saucer bonus is here, the challenge is also present. We lack the background 4-note descending "beat"... which makes this decidely less the tense thanthe arcade version. I couldn't get the joystick to control without constantly drifting right... but with emulators and PS2 controllers through a PC, I'm sure there is something not quite fitting in the mix. Was great to see this, although ultimately it's more Space Invaders, so your mileage may vary.
