Integrally Suppressed Rifle

Enjoying some time at the range with one of my new, integrally suppressed .308 rifles.

When I commanded the US Army Sniper School, I was fortunate enough to be able to test and evaluate a lot of new rifles and concepts. My desire to try new things and compare new concepts hasn't left me, so on occasion I enjoy having something built just to see how it turns out. This rifle was built specifically just to try out a new suppressor concept at the request of a local law enforcement agency looking for a quality urban sniper rifle that falls within a specified budget. The rifle started out as a Bergara B-14 Wilderness rifle, and I kept the stock and action for this build, but pretty much replaced everything else. I own a few integrally suppressed rifles in .300 blackout, and quite a few custom built sniper rifles in .308 that I shoot suppressed, but I wanted to build an integrally suppressed .308 rifle to see how the capabilities compared to a integrally suppressed .300 blackout.

I will do the comparison and accuracy test in the future, but this day was just about zeroing the optic to the rifle and gathering some initial DOPE to see how things differ from shooting the same loads out of a .308 with a regular match grade barrel. I was shooting both 168 gr and 175 gr match grade ammo and was averaging just under .6" at 100 yards and just under 2.5" at 300 yds, which for this rifle is better than I had expected. Once the rifle is properly broken in, I expect the short distance grouping to improve, but also anticipate an increase in group sizes out to greater distance as the muzzle velocity decreases. More to come on that once I spend some time with the rifle, but for now, just seeing how it sounds with standard velocity ammunition. Once I get it dialed in more, I will try it out with EBR subsonic ammunition as well as some hand loads that are subsonic as well.
