Why Did Marika Shatter the Elden Ring? | Elden Ring Lore

Описание к видео Why Did Marika Shatter the Elden Ring? | Elden Ring Lore

Although Alecto appears in only one item description in Elden Ring, we can get a surprising amount of insight just from her name, which is a genius allusion to Greek and Roman mythology. In turn, that lets us uncover all kinds of parallels that can help us answer one of the game's biggest mysteries: Why did Marika shatter the Elden Ring?

In this video, I explore the Night of the Black Knives, the Furies, the Aeneid, and evidence of a potential alliance between Ranni, Rykard, and Mohg.

Oh and a quick word on Black Knife Tiche, who, let's be honest, is the true Elden Lord. While in Elden Ring, she's the daughter of Alecto, her name is another spelling for Tyche, the Greek goddess of luck and fortune. While I couldn't find any myths that linked Tyche with Alecto or the other Furies, Tyche was sometimes paired with Nemesis, who punished hubris and excess. And Nemesis, like the Furies, was a daughter of the goddess Night.
