Ali Cherri est un artiste et vidéaste né en 1976 au Liban, son travail récent examine la place de l’objet historique dans la construction des récits nationaux, le suivant de sa sortie de terre jusqu’à son arrivée sur le marché de l’art ou dans un musée. En explorant ce que ces objets disent sur l’histoire, la société, la nature ou la culture, Ali Cherri révèle ce qu’ils dévoilent de nous, la magie par laquelle ils se transforment en valeurs, en fétiches, en idoles et en totems, et comment ils incarnent un nouveau type de fiction.

Ses œuvres étaient exposées au Musée des Beaux Arts de Marseille dans le cadre du chapitre "Le Parc : devenir du corps liquide" du programme d'exposition Traits d'union.s de Manifesta 13 Marseille.

Ali Cherri is an artist and video maker born in 1976 in Lebanon. His recent work examines the place of the historical object in the construction of national narratives, following it from the moment it leaves the ground until it arrives on the art market or in a museum. By exploring what these objects say about history, society, nature or culture, Ali Cherri reveals what they reveal about us, the magic by which they are transformed into values, fetishes, idols and totems, and how they embody a new type of fiction.

His works were on display at the Musée des Beaux Arts de Marseille as part of the plot 'The Park: Becoming a Body of Water' as part of the exhibition program Traits d'union.s of Manifesta 13 Marseille.
